Transcritical CO2 Project Highlights CoolSys Capabilities
CoolSys is celebrating the completion of one of the country’s largest transcritical CO2 refrigeration projects, setting the standard as a sustainable model in the U.S. The refrigeration and control install project showcases the end-to-end—from engineering and construction to start-up—capabilities of CoolSys and its expertise in CO2 and other low-GWP (global warming potential) refrigerants.
Comprising 325,000 square feet, the buildout is home to a first-of-its-kind facility for processing, cooking, freezing and shipping high-quality meal kits—the second largest industrial kitchen in the U.S. “This project demonstrates our capabilities to provide our customers a comprehensive range of services that few other companies, if any, can match,” says Ben Rosenzweig, vice president and general manager for CoolSys Energy Design (CED).
CoolSys contributed the full design for the project—including mechanical, electrical, plumbing, refrigeration, controls and fire alarm engineering services—completed the design-build phase of the project and provided project management services for refrigeration and controls equipment. “We utilized all the various levers at CoolSys to put this project together,” says Jack Wilson, enterprise account manager.
The Advantages of Comprehensive Expertise
“The customer benefits from comprehensive solutions from a single source,” Rosenzweig says. “Among the many advantages, changes can be more easily communicated within the same organization than when multiple organizations are involved.”
In addition, CoolSys has distinguished itself as the premier provider of transcritical CO2 design, installs and retrofits in the U.S., with hundreds of projects completed nationwide. To provide the best possible experience and outcomes for its clients, CoolSys has a team of over 500 technicians trained in CO2 systems, so we have the expertise to install, service and maintain CO2 systems.
Along with instruction from in-house CO2 experts, technicians have been educated by other leaders in CO2 technology, including the North American Sustainable Refrigeration Council (NASRC). With a GWP rating of 1, CO2 is a model for sustainable refrigeration worldwide.
CoolSys is a nationwide company of best-in-class experts that serves the retail, commercial and industrial refrigeration and HVAC industries.
