Don’t Give Up on Staying COVID-Safe This Fall!
It seems the social media memes have it right: 2020 is—unfortunately—the gift that keeps on giving. As a result of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, this fall season is one of the most complicated periods in an already incredibly challenging year. That’s especially true for anyone with school-aged children, from pre-K through college, as school districts and universities struggle with maintaining classes in the midst of sporadic outbreaks of the virus.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) reports that the COVID-19 indicators they track continued to remain stable or even drop slightly through mid-September. That’s encouraging news—but the CDC also emphasizes that the death rate for the virus is still at epidemic levels. We cannot let our guards down yet—especially since the regular flu season is just around the corner, click here to read more about the flu shot.
This is also a good time to remind yourself of those virus protection precautions and reinforce them with family members—especially your school-aged children. Three of the most important precautions are:
- Frequently wash your hands for 20 seconds with soap and water. Use hand sanitizer if soap isn’t available.
- Whenever you’re in public—indoors or outdoors—keep six feet of distance between you and anyone who doesn’t live with you.
- Cover your mouth and nose with a cloth mask anytime you are going to be around someone who doesn’t live with you. Remember: This is to protect others in case you are contagious but aren’t showing symptoms.
We’re grateful to all of you who continue to work cheerfully and dependably despite the inconvenience of wearing personal protective equipment (PPE) or working from home.
