Our Culture
It’s hard to believe, but as June begins, the second quarter of 2023 is heading to a close. We’ve accomplished a lot so far this year and at the heart of all our achievements are our Culture Principles. Our 5 Culture Principles are Safety, Respect, Empowerment, Collaboration, Accountability. Last month we looked at Safety being at the forefront of what all we do. This month, we’re taking a closer look at the Culture Principle of Respect.
I view respect as due regard for the feelings, wishes, rights or traditions of others. Every CoolSys employee deserves to have their dignity. Dignity being the right of a person to be valued and respected for their own sake and to be treated ethically. This also describes how our leadership team feels about our CoolSys employees. Our goal is to demonstrate respect in all our interactions. But it’s not only leaders who should show respect; it’s up to all of us to do so.
Living a Life of Respect for Others
First, we must respect each other’s time. That means joining meetings on time, every time. It means contributing to those meetings by being attentive, listening, asking questions, answering questions and making suggestions — and following up on any tasks we’re assigned. Respect also means being responsive to answering emails, instant messages and voicemails in a timely and efficient manner. It means listening to colleagues, taking time to understand their requests, considering different points of views and asking for clarity when needed. Respect means being a good teammate and a good colleague, always acknowledging that everyone has a job to do and treating people the way we would like to be treated.
Respect also means showing gratitude. Did a coworker go out of their way to pitch in on a project, do you a favor without you asking or provide you with something you asked for on time or even early? Show your respect by thanking them, letting them know you appreciate their efforts, or even sending them an e-card.
Our customers also deserve our respect. It goes without saying that they are indispensable to our business. We show them respect by being responsive and courteous, and by meeting or exceeding their expectations. We’ve earned their respect by earning their loyalty and it’s up to each of us to keep it.
Finally, the leadership team admires and appreciates what each of you accomplishes every day. We demonstrate our respect through providing the best culture possible, our compensation and benefit programs, training opportunities, career development and keeping open lines of communication. Respect inside and outside of CoolSys is a foundational pillar for all of us.
