An Update on Safety Initiatives at CoolSys
Our number-one priority at CoolSys is your safety. That is why we’re continuing to focus on various initiatives to ensure you get home safe at the end of each workday. As we have previously shared, we are specifically focusing on ways to decrease our experience modification rate (EMR) and recordable incident rates. These numbers impact both our employees’ health and our ability to work with existing and new customers.
A Multifaceted Approach to Safety
After conducting over 1,000 incident investigations at CoolSys, we have determined that the highest occurrence of injuries is in the categories of jobsite hazards, soft tissue injury and OSHA violations.
Those three areas represent preventable injuries, and as a result, we are educating employees and creating an environment to keep employees safe on the job. We will continue to distribute 5 Minutes to Power throughout CoolSys to raise safety awareness. We will also expand TRUCE telematics across the entire company. Last year, we piloted TRUCE with the C&I and CLC West fleet. Most at-fault incidents in 2021 were on vehicles that were not equipped with TRUCE.
More to Come
Looking ahead, we are piloting a new safety management system called myCority. To start, we are rolling out our hazard assessment, which helps technicians identify hazards on a job before they start working. Watch for more information about our various safety initiatives in the coming months.
