Celebrating Our Employees!
I have often said that ours is an intangible product. You simply cannot store service and installation in a box for later use. We rely on human beings who work in the field and in our offices behind the scenes to make things happen. The real “secret sauce” at CoolSys is our 2000 talented employees! We couldn’t do what we do without you. That’s why, in this issue of CoolTimes and every day, I’m honored to celebrate our people. And, I’d like to take this opportunity to highlight some of their many amazing achievements.
We are proud of our employee retention rate and that we promote personal and professional growth within our company. When you come to work for CoolSys, we want you to love your job so much that you make it a career! I think of people like Bill Ackerman, who works in sales, and who recently celebrated his 40th year with Coolsys. Brian Lindsey, our VP Account Management describes Bill as “the perfect example of what focus on the Customer Experience truly means. That coupled with his exemplary work ethic make him an invaluable part of the Account Management team. Congratulations on 40 years Bill, and here’s to the future!” I also think of Greg Scott with Source Refrigeration and Gary Wierzbicki with Ron’s Refrigeration celebrating 45 and 40 years of service too! We sincerely value these dedicated employees and all their contributions year after year.
We celebrate those who continue with education and training for their own personal betterment and for the good of the company. I love to see employees with a thirst for knowledge. I think of Justin Wilson, who works at CoolSys Energy Solutions; Michelle Arburto who works in Service Operations; and Juan Chavolla who works in Marketing at CoolSys – all of whom recently completed their master’s degree. I think of Beth Goldstein, our CHRO, and John Wittman at Legacy, who are also pursuing MBAs.
For those interested in pursuing their MBAs, I’m excited to say that CoolSys is a corporate partner of Pepperdine University. Now, employees can receive significant discounts on tuition and get time off to attend classes. What I love about the Pepperdine MBA Program is it’s easy to apply your learnings to company projects. It’s a Win/Win – You learn and the company directly benefits!
Speaking of education, our new training center is almost ready to open in Fullerton, Calif. It’s been a long process to find a new building and to design and build out the facility. We are excited to start offering classes there this fall. Each year at CoolSys, we invest millions of dollars to ensure our employees get world-class technical training at our regional and national training centers. Training and investing in people have always been cornerstones at CoolSys.
Training goes beyond the technical though. I’m very pleased to announce that in early 2020, we will also begin our Professional Leadership Development series held at our new Fullerton center. Plans include marrying top-notch independent professional instruction on various management and leadership skills and augmenting that curriculum with courses taught by CoolSys senior executives.
Investing in people and celebrating their accomplishments through our various recognition programs are cornerstones of building and maintaining our best-in-class company and culture. Even with the best companies like CoolSys, there are always opportunities to make things better. One thing you will never see at CoolSys is stagnation! Ours is a journey of continuous improvement.
As we roll through July and are in the heat (pun intended) of the busy season– I wanted to thank each of you who are out there working long hours for your contributions. Please, above all else, be safe out there on job sites and when driving. Your families depend on you for more than a paycheck, so put safety first. Until next time – that’s a wrap for this edition of Coffey’s Corner. Thanks to all of you for all you do for our company! Remember, we are here to help you achieve your dreams and goals. Whatever success looks like to you, we provide the resources, support and experience you need to achieve them.
