Fall Greetings

Without a doubt, my favorite time of year is fall… I love it when the leaves change colors, there is a crispness in the air and the heat starts to back off. Indian Summer, sweet corn, pumpkin patches, hayrides, cider mills – and who can forget It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown? Yes indeed, my favorite season! I’m also a sports nut. So between football, baseball playoffs, basketball and hockey season all going at the same time, it seems I have something I want to watch on TV daily.
But before we put summer in our rear-view mirrors, join me in giving three cheers to all of our folks out in the trenches. Another busy season is (mostly) behind us. A few areas of the country hold on to the heat for a few weeks but, by Halloween, summer should finally give up the ghost. Congrats to our service techs, construction teams and the support staff in all of our 70+ offices – we survived another one!
A lot is going on at CoolSys. By the time you read this, we will have closed another acquisition with several more in the hopper. A special welcome to Building Air Services (BAS), the latest addition to our growing CoolSys family! BAS serves several states from Arizona through Texas into Cajun country, Louisiana, into Mississippi, Alabama through Florida and up into Georgia and the Carolinas. BAS will become a part of the CoolSys Light Commercial Division, joining Agape and Legacy. We’re very happy to have the BAS team on board. With the BAS acquisition, we’re now pushing $465 million of revenues, more than 2,500 employees and CoolSys will cross the $500 million mark in revenue before year end. Growing like a weed, expanding like spray foam, CoolSys is going places!
A couple housecleaning items to share — open enrollment will be happening soon. We’re very pleased with our benefits packages and how our renewals have trended over the last three years. While the rest of the country is facing high single- to double-digit price increases, at CoolSys we have had very favorable renewals with rate increases more than 50 percent below the national average. Please be sure to take the time necessary to look through the various benefits offerings. This is your chance to make changes and enhance coverages. If you have questions as open enrollment takes place,please don’t hesitate to reach out to your HR Team. For the folks at Legacy – get ready – lots of options coming your way this year that you have not had before. I think you’ll be especially excited as you join the CoolSys benefits platform.
Lastly, I’d like to talk about vehicle safety. Let’s start with a pop quiz. How often do you think a CoolSys vehicle is involved in an accident? Monthly? Every two weeks? Every week? Every day? (Jeopardy music plays for 30 seconds in your head as you decide). Well, if you guessed anything other than daily you’d be wrong. Can you believe it? We average at least one vehicle accident every single day at CoolSys. Every year, more than 30 percent of our fleet gets into an accident. Holy Guacamole, Batman! We have a lot of work to do out there in the trenches. Please take the time to be safe and sound out there. Vehicle accidents cost us dearly – not just monetarily, either. Serious injuries and even deaths have occurred. Nothing more important than family – if for no other reason than for those you love, please focus on being careful out there when operating a vehicle on company business! Safety does matter – and it starts with each of you!
