Hispanic/Latinx Heritage Is All in the Family for CoolSys’s Samantha Lopez

In honor of Hispanic/Latinx Heritage Month, we’re celebrating Samantha Lopez, a member of our CoolSys family. She is a Service Coordinator in Miami, Florida, which is also where she was born and raised. Samantha’s paternal great-grandparents are from Spain, her maternal great-grandparents are from Argentina and France, and both of her grandparents are from Argentina.
Samantha has fond memories of weekly family barbeques on Sunday evenings, having asado (barbeque) and empanadas together. She and her family enjoy holidays and other cultural celebrations. On Christmas Eve, they gather for dinner then at midnight they take the children outside to look for Santa and the presents he brings. The family’s traditional holiday foods include cabrito (baby goat) or turkey. Family members who still live in Argentina get together each February to go to the annual La Chaya carnival and celebration.
