New GPS System Keeps Drivers Safe
At CoolSys, safety is a top priority — which is why our new Fleet GPS system comes with a wealth of information that will help keep our drivers across our fleet of vehicles safe.
With the new GPS system, the Safety Department is automatically alerted if the telematics in the vehicle signal about seatbelts, hard stops, rapid acceleration/deceleration, and a possible accident — allowing us to quickly reach out to technicians to make sure that they are okay and to get help or a tow truck on the way, if needed. This helps reduce time waiting on the side of the road. Recently, we were able to contact a technician within a couple of minutes of a serious accident. We also have contacted those where there had been a near-miss and they were appreciative that they were being looked out for.
As mentioned, seatbelt usage is also monitored with the system. As you know, wearing a seatbelt is a critical factor in minimizing the severity of injuries in an accident. To better adhere to the law and CoolSys policy, now we can send reminders to those that show multiple instances of not using their seatbelts.
The accuracy of the location with the new GPS is also vastly improved over the previous system. Among other things, this is helpful in validating the “How am I driving?” calls to see if the behavior described and the location match the caller. There have been instances where our vehicle was nowhere near the location described by the caller. This has been used to clear the driver of the complaint.
Overall, we care about you and your safety and this new system helps us to narrow in on providing resources to drive and operate your vehicles in a safer manner.
Afterall… “The Safe Way, The Right Way, The CoolSys Way” is our motto.
