Team CoolSys Are Safety Superstars
A big congratulations and thank-you goes out to the entire Team CoolSys! Our company’s safety performance has improved dramatically in the first six months of 2021. The Total Recordable Incident Rate (TRIR) goal for 2021 is 4.25; as of July 31, we are at 3.8. The Vehicle Incident Frequency Rate (VIFR) goal for 2021 is 3.2; as of July 31, we are at 2.2. Our recordable claims are down 21% from the same period last year, and at-fault vehicle accidents are down 41%.
This is a truly remarkable achievement, thanks to the dedication and commitment of our leadership and you — our employees throughout CoolSys who are keeping a focus on safety as you go through your workday. Safety is more than a priority at CoolSys because priorities can change over time. Let’s view safety at CoolSys as an absolute. Together, we can continue to weave safety into our daily routines and make it an essential part of how we do business.
Safe and Sound
A lower TRIR and VFIR indicates that fewer employees are having vehicle accidents and potentially getting injured. Most important, it means more of you are going home safely to your family and loved ones after your work shift. That is the primary purpose of our Safety Team; we care deeply about the health and safety of all CoolSys employees. We will continue to partner with all organizations to help minimize risk across CoolSys Nation.
In the first six months of 2021, 46 CoolSys work locations — from small to large — operated without a single at-fault vehicle accident or recordable claim. That’s an awesome accomplishment, and we’d like to see it spread across the entire portfolio of CoolSys companies.
Plan Ahead for Safety
We are now in the busiest time of our work year, where long hours and more miles and time behind the wheel increase the risk of accidents and injury. Stay safe by following these tips:
- Take a few minutes before each job begins to think about the hazards associated with the work you’re going to do. Make a plan to reduce your chances of injury, and complete your plan.
- Get plenty of rest between shifts.
- Maintain 3 to 4 seconds of distance between you and the vehicle ahead of you to allow sufficient time to react to changing road conditions.
- Wear all of your PPE.
- Drink plenty of water with electrolytes to prevent heat-related injury.
We can’t rest on our laurels, as there is still much work to be done. But together, we can make CoolSys the safest HVAC-R company in the nation!
