Veterans Hiring Initiative Launching Soon
On the heels of recognizing Veterans Day 2022 (while also thanking the 150 CoolSys employees who have served in the Armed Forces), the Talent Acquisition (TA) team is developing a hiring initiative to identify, attract and add more military veterans to the CoolSys team.
The initiative comprises several components: CoolSys will have a regular presence on online military job boards such as Hire Heroes USA and GI Jobs. TA staff members will participate in in-person hiring events like Hiring Our Heroes and Recruit Military. Also, the CoolSys website will soon offer a dedicated landing page in our careers section to attract veterans interested in applying.
So why is CoolSys committed to this effort for hiring veterans? According to Sanna Kariniemi, director of talent acquisition, there are many reasons.
“Veterans receive extensive training in the military, develop their critical thinking skills, and ability to problem solve,” Sanna says. “They also receive technical training while in the service and exhibit high levels of resiliency, both of which are certain qualities we look for in job candidates.”
These qualities are just a couple of the desirable attributes CoolSys looks for in job candidates, Sanna says.
“These skills and others acquired in the military are highly transferable to many of our open positions,” she continues. “Additionally, CoolSys values and appreciates their service to our country, and we like to give back to our communities by creating engaging and rewarding career paths for our veterans.”
As the new hiring initiative ramps up, Sanna also offered more ways to introduce our service men and women to the vast opportunities at CoolSys.
“We’ve extended our Employee Summer Referral program until the end of 2022,” Sanna adds. “It includes referrals for both technicians and engineering roles. Employees can refer anyone they know for these positions, including family and friends. We offer bonuses of up to $4,000, and of course, we’re looking for veterans.”
