HVAC-R Technician Educational Requirements
Thinking about joining the CoolSys team? A solid educational foundation is key for aspiring HVAC-R technicians. It all starts with a high school diploma or equivalent, where math, physics and shop classes can really help. From there, most people go on to trade school or technical college for six months to two years, getting a mix of classroom learning and hands-on training. This combo gives you the essential knowledge and practical skills you need for the job and CoolSys is proud to offer tuition reimbursement of up to $3K a year for qualified candidates. Others join CoolSys Academy fresh out of high school and benefit from our extensive eight-level technician training program to become one the most skilled technicians in the industry. CoolSys even offers a Get Paid to Train program, you get the necessary training and start earning right away!

Our career pathways for technicians include eight levels, from entry-level technician positions at level one to service or branch manager, followed by regional or division managers.
