Celebrating Opening of Star Market at Boston TD Gardens
Fans are cheering for the team from CoolSys Energy Solutions, who scored a major win with the new Star Market Boston, TD Gardens project for Albertson’s Companies. At 63,000 square feet, Star Gardens is now the largest supermarket in downtown Boston and the highest profile Energy Management System (EMS) project in CoolSys Energy Solutions’ history. “This was the largest EMS project that I’ve seen in my 27-year career, and it’s always great to get positive feedback like this from our largest customer,” says Anthony Tippins, President of CoolSys Energy Solutions.
For those of you unfamiliar with TD Gardens, it’s home to the NHL’s Boston Bruins and NBA’s Boston Celtics, and hosts more than 3.5 million visitors a year. The new two-story Star Market is part of the $1.1 billion development project and sits on the north side of the new “Champion’s Row” entryway. “The hardest part of the project was the location. Being in the thick of it in downtown Boston, everything is really packed. We were pulling wires in the garage and some of the equipment had to be housed four floors up,” commented Brian Fournier, Account Manager, CoolSys Energy Solutions.
At street level, the store sells grab-and-go items and an escalator takes customers underground for more shopping. “It’s not your typical supermarket. It’s within the confines of an existing building that houses a train station, sports arena, and condominiums. It’s a big site,” says Billy August, CoolSys Energy Solutions’ Project Manager. “Part of the system was on one of the lower roofs five stories up. We also went underground two stories below. There are seven stories between top and bottom. We ran wires through a nightclub and movie theaters to get to the roof. It was kind of tricky, but it worked out well,” he adds.
For Frank Croak, CoolSys Energy Solutions’ Account Manager for Albertson’s new stores, the greatest achievement comes from going above and beyond for his customer. “I’m glad it’s open and I’m glad the customer is satisfied. In a new store, we want to make sure that we are not only doing a good job on the installation, but we are exceeding our customer’s expectations.” Since the Star Market’s grand opening in September, the CoolSys Energy Solutions’ dream team of Billy August, Brian Fournier and Frank Croak have been getting a lot of attention. “I’m hearing lots of great customer feedback from the division and corporate levels,” says Kevin Ricci, Vice President of CoolSys Energy Solutions. “They’re praising the individuals on our team, our performance, quality, customer service and attention to detail. Really guys — great job all around! This is the kind of thing that makes me very proud of you guys, our team and our company.”
It’s clear when you talk to Billy, Brian and Frank that they are humble, hard-working guys who truly love what they do. “It’s always nice when someone says you’ve done a good job. It’s great to ride home and be thankful for the opportunity. It’s cool. I’m just grateful to be able to work with Frank and Brian and I always thank Kevin and Anthony for letting me work on these projects!” says Billy.
